@ 06:22Lewis To Drive Nascar
Although details are somewhat sketchy, it has been revealed that Lewis Hamilton is to drive a NASCAR car later this year, swapping seats with two-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart. Stewart-Haas Racing has confirmed that Lewis Hamilton will drive Stewart's No. 14 Chevrolet Impala while the American will get to try the Englishman's 2010 F1 car at the legendary Watkins Glen circuit in an event arranged by mutual sponsor Mobil 1. The event follows a similar swap in 2003, when Jeff Gordon traded places with Juan Pablo Montoya, who was driving for the BMW WilliamsF1 Team at the time. Organizers insist that both cars will be full-race versions and the respective drivers race crews will be on duty. No date has been given for the event other than that it will hopefully take place "during the summer".

@ 06:17Alsono Tried to Sabotage Lewis?
Any biography about Bernie Ecclestone is bound to come with a few surprises, the latest being that Fernando Alonso allegedly tried to sabotage Lewis Hamilton. The acrimonious relationship between the two during their year together at McLaren in 2007 is well documented. The duo not only fought on the track but also off it. Following qualifying for the Hungarian GP, Alonso was stripped of his pole position for blocking Hamilton in the pits during qualifying, preventing the then-rookie from challenging for pole position. Added that, there was the Stepneygate spy scandal where McLaren received secret technical information about Ferrari's 2007 challenger. The scandal reportedly came to light when Alonso threatened to report team boss Ron Dennis to the FIA if he was not handed number one driver status. But it now appears that those were not the only controversies during the Spaniard's time at McLaren. According to The Star, Tom Bowers' recently published biography "No Angel: The Secret Life of Bernie Ecclestone", claims that Alonso asked Dennis to sabotage Hamilton. The book alleges that, hours before the start of that tension-fraught 2007 Hungarian GP, Alonso approached Dennis, telling him to short-fuel Hamilton's McLaren so that the Brit would run out of fuel and fail to finish the grand prix. And although Hamilton and Alonso have insisted in recent months that they have buried the hatchet, these claims may spark yet another war between the two World Champions.

@ 06:13Nuts Magazine Interview
Lewis was featured in Nuts magazine last week, taking part in an exclusive question and answer season. You can now read every word below, where Lewis talks about Jenson, twitter and Nicole. Please credit LH-O if you use this article elsewhere. I believe I can do any part to a race standard. I've always been good at taking things to bits and putting them backing together. I can pretty much take a car apart and rebuild it. I definately couldn't do it as well as the guys on my team, though! What's the 2011 Champtionship going to hinge on? You never know. Sometimes it starts off the wrong way and it's just how you dig yourself out of it. I'm always prepared for how it might go. What we do it just work towards being prepared as best we can. Is there much pressure on you to beat Jenson? There's always pressure within the team, and anyone who says there isn't is lying. You're working as a team, for the team, but you want to be seen as the better one of the two! Jenson and I will always have that rivalry - he wants to be world champion and so do I - but that'll never cloud our judgement to the point where we crash into each other! Do you two have any cheeky bests? Are there races where you feel, "I can have him!"? Every race! Ha ha. Nah, we don't have anything like that. We're going there to win. I don't think we need more incentive! In sports like football, the fans are really close to the action. Is it the same in F1? Well, they're nowhere as close. But people don't realise that it's the fans who create atmosphere. You wouldn't believe it at the speeds we travel, but we can see them. We can see all the flags, hear the cheers, and see all the fans moving. It makes a huge difference. I don't think it does for all the drivers, but it does for me. I'm from Stevenage man. It was hard enough getting girls to like you or make friends, let alone have fans who love you and travel all over the world to support you. It's pretty cool. Do you feel cool when you're driving? I definitely don't when I'm wearing this suit, even though it's pretty cool to have and there are only two of us who can wear it! You definitely feel cool when you get into the car. You think "this is my car and very few people are allowed to drive it!" That's the frickin cool par. I'm sure you feel pretty cool yourself, when you pull up at some lights in your car, don't you? Er, not exactly! You're on twitter now - will you be tweeting from the pit lane? Ha ha! I don't think so. I don't follow many people, although I do follow P.Diddy who tweets like a million times a day. I did it because I had it on my phone, and I thought it would be cool to communicate with the fans. When I've got time, I try to let people know what I'm doing. But I can't tell people everything I'm up to! The best part of it is to keep up to date with everything when we're away over winter. Thanks Lewis! Finally, a deal - we guarantee you'll win the WC, but you have to let us take Nicole Scherzinger on a date. Interested? Ooh..I'll say yes, providing I can arrange the date and make the rules. The date would be in a restuarant but you'd be sitting on the other side of the room. You'd have a wired mic so you could speak to her but there'd be no eye contact. She'd be wearing a woolly jumper buttoned up to the neck so you couldn't look at her chest! And I'd be the waiter!! |

@ 04:13Nicole Talking About Lewis
Nicole was in the News of the World yesterday, discussing Lewis and her role in the Men in Black Movie. Huge thanks to Shivani Former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger is coping well with balancing her acting and music careers and supporting her F1 boyfriend. But it seems one easy way of keeping Lewis Hamilton sweet is by introducing him to his idols. The Hawaiian set up a meeting between Will Smith and Lewis on the set of Men In Black III, which also stars Nicole. She told NewsOfTheWorld: “They got along so well. Lewis was a bit in awe of him but Will is such a nice guy. I had such a great time making the movie and it was cool for him to be there.” Nic has turned her attention back to pop with the release of second solo single Dont Hold Your Breath – which will be a massive hit when released next month.

@ 04:00Lewis At Barcelona Testing, Day 3
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lewis Hamilton believes it is essential for McLaren to be able to complete some race simulations in testing as soon as possible, having described rival teams' consistent mileage as 'incredible'. Although Hamilton did 93 laps in total today, only one of his stints was more than 10 laps long - and even that 16-lap run was disrupted as he backed off several times. Morning running had been interrupted by reliability issues that forced him to repeatedly pit. "Today I had a couple of long runs but they weren't real race simulations," said Hamilton. "I was getting overtaken a lot by other cars. It's always important at the beginning of the season in testing to get pitstops in and do a real race simulation. If you can do two in a day it's fantastic." Asked how he felt about the level of mileage teams like Red Bull and Ferrari were accumulating, Hamilton replied: "It's crazy, 140 laps from [Mark] Webber. All I can do is laugh. "It's incredible, they're really doing fantastically. We've not managed to get to that many laps, but slowly but surely I'm sure we'll get there." He remains confident that McLaren can resolve the reliability problems it has had so far. "Any reliability issue is a concern, but I feel like I've got great people around me, who will be able to solve whatever issues they have," said Hamilton. "Bit by bit we've been able to solve whatever problems we've had and that's how we work. Of course we'd love to have no problems, but then it would be easy. "We had a couple of technical issues which we were able to sort out and we did 90-odd laps today so that's an improvement, a step for us. "We managed to get through a couple of long-ish runs but of course we want to get more mileage on the car so we'll try and do that tomorrow. It's a work in progress, we have more time to come."
