Lewis To Instruct Drivers

Formula One star Lewis Hamilton will be teaching a select number of lucky learners driving techniques in Mercedes cars next week.

The 2008 world champion will be on hand at the Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy on July 4th, teaching young drivers some of the secrets of his success behind the wheel.

Mercedes-Benz is already very proud of the fact that its learner drivers have a pass rate of 78 per cent - almost double that of the national average.

The academy's operations manager, Robert East, said that the facility is very pleased with its work, and the students will benefit from Hamilton's tuition.

"We are delighted with the success of our first two years and will continue to work towards dramatically improving safety on our roads by creating more responsible drivers," he added.

Hamilton recently revealed that he hopes to lead a Mercedes cars one-two with teammate Jenson Button at the British Grand Prix on July 10th.

Lewis Concedes 2011 Title Over

Sebastian Vettel’s lead of 77 points is equivalent to more than three race wins and Hamilton said his ambitions no longer extended to catching the German but simply on points in the constructors’ championship.
I just want to continue finishing races because Sebastian is pretty much gone,” Hamilton said. “He has pretty much won it [the championship] really. Unless he doesn’t finish the next 10 races, which is very, very unlikely, he is gone. He has almost 100 points on me.
That is four wins that I need to catch up without him finishing in any of those races. It is not impossible, but [realistically] now it is about working with the guys to score as many team points as possible in the constructors’ championship.
We can’t beat the Red Bull right now. There was over a second per lap difference today. That is just ridiculous. We’re not giving up. I’m just being realistic. There are almost 100 points between me and Sebastian. And they finished 50 seconds or something ahead of us today.’’
Hamilton added that McLaren’s performance had fallen away since Barcelona, claiming that the engineers had ignored him and elected not to take a risk which could have handed them a significant chunk of lap time.
They [McLaren] didn’t want to take the risk,” he said. Asked why not, Hamilton added: “For safety reasons. The question is whether or not we would have finished if we had taken the risk, but then that is what risk is all about. We had another couple of tenths available to us which I think would have been quite strong and it would have helped look after our tyres.
“We are not very good at cooling our rear tyres. We could have had more blowing just for one race but they didn’t want to do that. I pushed as hard as I could.”
Button, whose run to sixth was also marred by his KERS breaking, agreed with Hamilton’s assessment and also called on the team to be more bold. “I do know of some new parts that are coming but I think we need more. We need to take some risks because behind us is a big gap — in this race anyway – to the Mercedes, the Ferraris are in front of us and the Red Bulls are miles away.”

Lewis Talks About Nicole

FORMULA One star Lewis Hamilton has opened his heart on his love for US X Factor star Nicole Scherzinger and even hinted that the pair may soon marry.
Race ace Lewis, 26, and Nicole spend most of their time apart as the McLaren star spends eight months a year on the F1 circuit which today sees him in Valencia for the European Grand Prix.
Typically, Nicole, 32, is on the other side of the Atlantic filming with Simon Cowell and Co, but Lewis insists the pair can and do make their long-distance love work. Lewis said: I miss her so much when were working apart.
We try to see each other as much as we can but it can be hard. I wouldnt change things though, I just feel so fortunate that she is my girlfriend.
So far the pair, who have dated since they met at a party in Germany in 2007, have knocked back all talk of walking up the aisle but both now seem to be warming to the idea. When asked about a wedding, Lewis smiled and said: Marriage? Who knows.
And Nicole recently said: Do I see us getting married and having kids? My head says yeah.
Lewis added: Shes gorgeous shes a superstar.

Whitmarsh Believes Lewis Can Win In Valencia

McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh says Lewis Hamilton is determined to come back stronger in Sunday's European Grand Prix after two inadequate races.
Hamilton, 26, was involved in four separate incidents in Monaco and Canada and picked up just eight points.
But Whitmarsh said: "Lewis can win this weekend and I'm sure that's what he's determined to do.
"The last two races haven't gone the way he or the team would have liked but I don't think he's lost any form."
